Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 hearing there no babble; 11 therein a running fountain, 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 cushions ranged, 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
