Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 raised couches, 13 And goblets set at hand 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 you are not their keeper. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
