Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 and couches raised high, 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And linen spread out. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
