Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 well arranged goblets, 14 and arranged cushions 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
