Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 In an elevated garden, 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 and goblets laid out, 14 well-placed cushions, 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
