Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 in a sublime garden, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 therein uplifted couches 13 and prepared goblets, 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
