Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
