Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Dawn 1 And by oath of ten nights. 2 and the even and the odd, 3 And [by] the night when it passes, 4 Considering all this - could there be, to anyone endowed with reason, a [more] solemn evidence of the truth? 5 Did you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) not see (thought) how your Lord dealt with 'Ad (people)? 6 [With] Iram - who had lofty pillars, 7 the like of which was never created in the land, 8 And Thamood, who hewed out the rocks of the valley? 9 and with Pharaoh of the [many] tent-poles? 10 Who did transgress beyond bounds in the lands (in the disobedience of Allah). 11 And increased therein the corruption. 12 Therefore your Lord let down upon them a portion of the chastisement. 13 Indeed, your Lord is in observation. 14 As for man, whenever his Lord tries him and then is gracious and provides good things for him, he says: "My Lord has been gracious to me." 15 but when He tests him by straitening his means of livelihood, he says, "My Lord has disgraced me." 16 But nay, nay, [O men, consider all that you do and fail to do:] you are not generous towards the orphan, 17 Nor do ye encourage one another to feed the poor!- 18 And you readily devour the inheritance with greed. 19 And ye love wealth with inordinate love! 20 Most certainly when the earth is smashed and blown to bits. 21 And when the command of your Lord comes and the angels row by row, 22 And Hell is brought near, that day will man remember, but of what avail will then remembering be? 23 He will say: "Ah! Would that I had sent forth (good deeds) for (this) my (Future) Life!" 24 None can punish as He will punish on that day, 25 And His bonds will be such as none (other) can bind. 26 O thou peaceful soul! 27 "Come back to your Lord, Well-pleased (yourself) and well-pleasing unto Him! 28 Enter thou among My bondmen! 29 Enter thou My Paradise!' 30
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
