The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I swear by this city, Makkah - 1 And thou art a freeman of this City;- 2 And the parent and the offspring, 3 We created the human in fatigue. 4 Does he think that none has power over him! 5 He says, "I have spent enormous wealth." 6 Thinketh he that none beholdeth him? 7 Have We not appointed to him two eyes, 8 and a tongue, and a pair of lips, 9 And did We not show him the two highroads (of good and evil)? 10 Yet he attempteth not the steep, 11 And what will make you comprehend what the uphill road is? 12 To free a neck (from the burden of debt or slavery), 13 Or to feed in times of famine 14 To an orphan, having relationship, 15 Or of a homeless needy person! 16 Then he became one of those who believed, and recommended one another to perseverance and patience, and (also) recommended one another to pity and compassion. 17 These are the People of the Right Hand. 18 But those who reject Our Signs, they are the (unhappy) Companions of the Left Hand. 19 who will be engulfed in the fire. 20
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
