The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By oath of the night when it covers 1 and by the day as it appears radiantly, 2 By (the mystery of) the creation of male and female;- 3 Lo! your effort is dispersed (toward divers ends). 4 Yet he who gives to others and has fear, 5 And believeth in goodness; 6 observe piety, and believe in receiving rewards from God. 7 But as for him who is niggardly, and thinks that he is self-sufficient, 8 And rejects goodness, 9 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Misery; 10 Nor will his wealth profit him when he falls headlong (into the Pit). 11 Truly! Ours it is (to give) guidance, 12 And verily unto Us (belong) the End and the Beginning. 13 Therefor have I warned you of the flaming Fire 14 in which none shall be roasted except the most wretched sinner, 15 who belied and turned away, 16 But the righteous one will avoid it - 17 he that spends his possessions [on others] so that he might grow in purity 18 And none hath with him any favour for reward, 19 Except as seeking (to fulfil) the purpose of his Lord Most High. 20 and before long he will be well satisfied. 21
God the Almighty always says the truth.
