Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the night, when it envelops, 1 and the day in splendour 2 And by Him Who created male and female; 3 your striving is indeed to different ends! 4 Yet he who gives to others and has fear, 5 And testifieth to the Good, 6 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Bliss. 7 But as for him who hoardeth and deemeth himself independent, 8 And disbelieveth in goodness; 9 We shall pave his way to hardship, 10 and his wealth shall be of no avail to him when he perishes. 11 It is indeed for Us to show the way, 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 Now I have warned you of a Fire that flames, 14 in which no one will suffer forever except the wicked ones 15 Who belieth and turneth away. 16 and from which the cautious shall be distanced. 17 the Godfearing who spends his wealth to purify himself; 18 And have in his mind no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 seeking only the Face of his Lord, the Most High, 20 And he is going to be satisfied. 21
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
