The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
I CALL THE night to witness when it covers over, 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 and by Him Who created the male and the female: 3 Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse. 4 Yet he who gives to others and has fear, 5 And believes in Al-Husna. 6 We will pave his way to ease. 7 As for him who was a miser and behaved with aversion (to Allah), 8 and have no faith in receiving any reward (from God). 9 for him shall We make easy the path towards hardship: 10 and his wealth shall be of no avail to him when he perishes. 11 Verify on us is the guidance 12 and to Us belong the Next Life and the present. 13 Therefore I have warned you of a Fire blazing fiercely (Hell); 14 None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one. 15 even he who cried lies, and turned away; 16 The pious ones will be safe from this fire 17 Who gives his wealth in order to be pure. 18 And is under no one's obligation to return his favour, 19 But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High. 20 and such, indeed, shall in time be well-pleased. 21
