The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the night when it covers the day, 1 and by the day as it appears radiantly, 2 And by Who created the male and female, 3 Indeed your efforts differ. 4 As for him who giveth and is dutiful (toward Allah) 5 and affirmed the Truth of goodness: 6 Surely We will ease his way unto the state of ease. 7 But for those who are niggardly, horde their wealth, 8 and cries lies to the reward most fair, 9 So We will very soon provide him hardship. 10 And what will his wealth benefit him when he goes down (in destruction). 11 Surely upon Us rests the guidance, 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 Therefore I warn you of the fire that flames: 14 None shall reach it but those most unfortunate ones 15 who gives the lie to the truth and turns away [from it]. 16 But save him who fears 17 one who gives his wealth to become purified, 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 But only seeking the Countenance of his Lord the Most High. 20 and such, indeed, shall in time be well-pleased. 21
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
