The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the night when it covers the day, 1 And the day when it shines in brightness, 2 Consider the creation of the male and the female! 3 O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! 4 As for one who gives [to others] and fears [God], 5 And believes in the best [reward], 6 We shall facilitate for him the Way to Bliss. 7 but for him that is a miser, and sufficed, 8 And rejects the best, 9 We will make smooth for him the path for evil; 10 Nor will his wealth profit him when he falls headlong (into the Pit). 11 Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance. 12 and to Us belong the Next Life and the present. 13 So, I warn you of the blazing Fire. 14 in which none shall be roasted except the most wretched sinner, 15 Who gives the lie (to the truth) and turns (his) back. 16 and from which the most godfearing shall be removed, 17 even he who gives his wealth. to purify himself 18 They do not expect any reward 19 only seeking the Face of his Lord the Most High; 20 And he is going to be satisfied. 21
