The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
READ IN THE name of your Lord who created, 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Recite: And thy Lord is the Most Generous, 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 He taught the human being what he did not know. 5 Yet man behaves arrogantly, 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 Surely unto thy Lord is the Returning. 8 What is your opinion regarding him who forbids 9 a servant [of God] from praying? 10 Tell me, if he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is on the guidance (of Allah)? 11 or enjoins true piety? 12 What is your opinion if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Does he not realize that God sees him? 14 No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock - 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 So let him call his associates, 17 We will call the angels of Hell. 18 Yes indeed; do not listen to him and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14) ۩ 19
God the Almighty always says the truth.
