The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 Created man from a clinging substance. 2 Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,- 3 Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)]. 4 Teacheth man that which he knew not. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 because he thinks himself self-sufficient: 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 Have you considered if he were on the right way, 11 or enjoins true piety? 12 Do you see how he has denied the truth and turned away from it? 13 Does he not know that Allah does see? 14 Let him beware! If he does not desist, We will drag him by the forelock -- 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 So, let him call upon his way! 17 We will call the guards of hell. 18 Beware! Do not obey him, but bow in adoration and draw near (to your Lord). ۩ 19
