The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Read! In the name of your Lord, who created: 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Recite thou: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 who, by the pen, taught the human being: 4 taught the human what he did not know. 5 Yet man behaves arrogantly, 6 Because he sees himself free from want. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the returning. 8 Have you seen the one who prohibits 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance?- 11 and enjoins piety? 12 What thinkest thou? If he cries lies, and turns away - 13 Does he not realize that God sees him? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 Let him call on his associates for help 17 We will now call the guards! 18 No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. ۩ 19
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
