The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 Created man from an embryo; 2 Read - for thy Sustainer is the Most Bountiful One 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 Teacheth man that which he knew not. 5 By no means: Verily man exorbitateth. 6 Because he sees himself free from want. 7 for, behold, unto thy Sustainer all must return. 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 a worshiper when he prays. 10 What thinkest thou? If he were upon guidance 11 Or enjoins Righteousness? 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We too shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 No, not at all. Never obey him. But prostrate yourself and become nigh (to your Lord). ۩ 19
