In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read with the name of your Lord Who created, 1 Hath created man from a clot! 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Bountiful One 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, but verily man is rebellious 6 That he thinketh himself independent! 7 Surely unto thy Lord is the Returning. 8 Have you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) seen him (i.e. Abu Jahl) who prevents, 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Have you seen if he was upon guidance 11 Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? 12 Have you considered if he gives the lie to the truth and turns (his) back? 13 does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 So, let him call upon his way! 17 We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)! 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
