The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
READ in the name of thy Sustainer, who has created 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Recite: And thy Lord is the Most Generous, 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 Taught man what he knew not. 5 Indeed, surely the human is very insolent 6 As he bethinkest himself selfsufficient. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the returning. 8 Hast thou seen him who dissuadeth 9 a servant [of God] from praying? 10 Have you thought, if he had been on guidance 11 or bade to godfearing -- 12 Have you seen if he denies and turns away - 13 Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 his lying sinful forelock. 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 We also shall call the infernal guards. 18 No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. ۩ 19
