The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
9 verses, revealed in Mecca after Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah) before Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Woe to every slanderer and backbiter 1 who amasses wealth and counts it over and again. 2 He thinks that his wealth will immortalise him forever. 3 Nay, but [in the life to come such as] he shall indeed be abandoned to crushing torment! 4 Would that you knew what hutamah is! 5 It is a Fire kindled by God. 6 Which will climb on to the hearts. 7 Verily, it shall be closed in on them, 8 In pillars stretched forth (i.e. they will be punished in the Fire with pillars, etc.). 9
God the Almighty always says the truth.
