The chiefs of the people of Fir'awn said: verily this is a magician knowing. 109 who seeks to drive you from your land!" Pharaoh said, "What then do you advise?" 110 They said: "Put him and his brother off (for a time), and send callers (men) to the cities to collect (and) - 111 to summon every wellversed sorcerer to you' 112 And the sorcerers came unto Pharaoh [and] said: "Verily, we ought to have a great reward if it is we who prevail." 113 Pharaoh replied: 'Certainly, and you shall be among those who are near to me.' 114 They said: "O Musa (Moses)! Either you throw (first), or shall we have the (first) throw?" 115 'Throw' he replied. And when they threw, they bewitched the people's eyes and terrified them, and produced great sorcery. 116 And We inspired Musa (Moses) (saying): "Throw your stick," and behold! It swallowed up straight away all the falsehoods which they showed. 117 ۞ Thus the truth prevailed, and that which they had brought vanished. 118 So the (great ones) were vanquished there and then, and were made to look small. 119 threw themselves down in prostration 120 saying: 'We believe in the Lord of the Worlds, 121 The Lord of Moses and Aaron." 122 Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "You have believed in him [Musa (Moses)] before I give you permission. Surely, this is a plot which you have plotted in the city to drive out its people, but you shall come to know. 123 “I swear I will cut off your hands and your feet from alternate sides and then crucify you all.” 124 They said: "For us, We are but sent back unto our Lord: 125 "The only reason you have to hate us is that we believed in the signs of our Lord as they came to us. O our Lord, give us sufficient endurance that we may die submitting (to You)." 126
