The chiefs of Firon's people said: most surely this is an enchanter possessed of knowledge: 109 who seeks to drive you from your land what do you command' 110 They said: "Keep him and his brother in suspense (for a while); and send to the cities men to collect- 111 “To bring all the expert magicians to you.” 112 And the enchanters came to Firon (and) said: We must surely have a reward if we are the prevailing ones. 113 Answered [Pharaoh]: "Yes; and verily, you shall be among those who are near unto me." 114 They said: O Musa! either thou cast down, or we shall be the ones to cast down. 115 He said: Throw! And when they threw they cast a spell upon the people's eyes, and overawed them, and produced a mighty spell. 116 We said to Moses: "Throw down your staff;" and it swallowed up their conjurations in no time. 117 ۞ So, the truth prevailed and what they were doing was annulled; 118 The magicians who were defeated on the spot and were proved to be worthless, 119 And the wizards fell down prostrate, 120 saying, "We declare our belief in the Lord of the Universe, 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron!" 122 Pharaoh said, "You dare believe in Him before I have given you permission? Behold, this is indeed a plot which you have devised in this city in order to drive its people out. But you shall soon know the consequences, 123 I will certainly cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, then will I crucify you all together. 124 They answered: "We have (in any case) to go back to our Lord. 125 “And what did you dislike in us, except that we believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us? Our Lord! Pour (bestow abundantly) patience on us, and bestow us death as Muslims.” 126
