We created man from sounding clay, from mud moulded into shape; 26 And the jinn did We create aforetime of essential fire. 27 And (remember) when your Lord said to the angels: "I am going to create a man (Adam) from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud. 28 When it is properly shaped and I have blown My Spirit into it, you should then bow down in prostration". 29 then the angels all prostrated themselves together. 30 But Iblis (did it not); he refused to be with those who made obeisance. 31 He said: O Iblis! What aileth thee that thou art not among the prostrate? 32 He said it was not for me that I should prostrate myself unto a human being whom Thou hast created from ringing clay of loam moulded. 33 Allah said: then get thee forth therefrom; verily thou art one damned. 34 "And the curse shall be on thee till the day of Judgment." 35 He said: My Lord! Reprieve me till the day when they are raised. 36 The Lord said, "Your request is granted 37 Till the Day of appointed time. 38 Iblis said: "My Lord! In the manner You led me to error, I will make things on earth seem attractive to them and lead all of them to error, 39 "Except Thy servants among them, sincere and purified (by Thy Grace)." 40 (To which God) said: "This way is right by Me. 41 Verily as for My bondmen, no authority shalt thou have over them, except the erring one who follow thee. 42 And indeed, Hell is the promised place for them all. 43 Unto it are seven portals; unto each portal is a portion of them assigned. 44
