And We did certainly create man out of clay from an altered black mud. 26 whereas the invisible beings We had created, [long] before that, out of the fire of scorching winds. 27 Behold! thy Lord said to the angels: "I am about to create man, from sounding clay from mud moulded into shape; 28 When I have shaped him and ran My created soul in him fall down prostrating towards him'. 29 So, the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together. 30 Except Iblis. He refused to bow with the adorers. 31 God asked Iblis, "What made you not join the others in prostration?" 32 He said: "It does not behove of me to prostrate myself before a human being whom You have created out of dry ringing clay wrought from black mud." 33 Allah said: then get thee forth therefrom; verily thou art one damned. 34 "And the curse shall be on thee till the day of Judgment." 35 He said, "My Lord, then reprieve me until the Day they are resurrected." 36 [Allah] said, "So indeed, you are of those reprieved 37 unto the day of a known time.' 38 [Iblis (Satan)] said: "O my Lord! Because you misled me, I shall indeed adorn the path of error for them (mankind) on the earth, and I shall mislead them all. 39 Except the chosen ones among Your creatures." 40 Said Allah, “This path* leads straight towards Me.” (* The path of the chosen bondmen.) 41 "Certainly, you shall have no authority over My slaves, except those who follow you of the Ghawin (Mushrikun and those who go astray, criminals, polytheists, and evil-doers, etc.). 42 And lo! for all such, hell will be the promised place. 43 with seven gates leading into it, each gate receiving its allotted share of sinners. 44
