When the messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 He said: "Verily! You are people unknown to me." 62 They said: nay! we have come to thee with that whereof they have been dubitating. 63 We bring you the truth, and indeed we are truthful. 64 Go, then, with thy household while it is yet night, with thyself following them in the rear; and let none of you look back, but proceed whither you are bidden." 65 And We conveyed to him [the decree] of that matter: that those [sinners] would be eliminated by early morning. 66 And the people of the city came [unto Lot,] rejoicing at the glad tiding. 67 He said, 'These are my guests; put me not to shame, 68 Fear Allah and do not disgrace me' 69 They answered: "Have we not forbidden thee [to offer protection] to any kind of people?" 70 Lot exclaimed in exasperation: "If you are bent on doing something, then here are my daughters." 71 Verily by your life they were utterly confused in their (lustful) drunkenness. 72 Then the shout took hold of them at the sunrise. 73 And We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of hard clay. 74 Surely in this are signs for those who examine. 75 And indeed, those cities are [situated] on an established road. 76 Verily there is a Sign in this for the believers. 77 And the companions of the thicket were [also] wrongdoers. 78 So We inflicted retribution on them, and they are both, indeed, on an open road (still) pursued. 79

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
