And when the messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 he said, 'Surely you are a people unknown to me!' 62 They said: "Nay, we have brought to you that concerning which they have been in doubt. 63 We truly tell you that we have brought to you the Truth. 64 So set out with your family in a watch of the night, and keep yourself behind them, and no one of you may turn around, and keep going ahead as you have been commanded." 65 And We made known to him this decree that the wrongdoers were to be utterly cut off in the morning. 66 And there came the people of the city rejoicing 67 He said, “These are my guests – do not dishonour me.” 68 but be conscious of God and disgrace me not!" 69 They said: "Did we not forbid thee (to speak) for all and sundry?" 70 He said: Here are my daughters, if ye must be doing (so). 71 By thy life, in their intoxication they were wandering bewildered. 72 So they were seized by the mighty blast at break of day; 73 And We turned the township upside down and rained upon them stones of heated clay. 74 Herein are really signs for those who discern. 75 And indeed that township is upon a road still in use. 76 Indeed in this are signs for the believers. 77 And the companions of the thicket were [also] wrongdoers. 78 So We took retribution from them, and indeed, both [cities] are on a clear highway. 79
