When the messengers came to Lot and his family, 61 he said, "You seem to be strangers". 62 They said, "But we have come to you with that about which they were disputing, 63 And we have come to you with the truth, and we are most surely truthful. 64 So set out with your family during a portion of the night and follow behind them and let not anyone among you look back and continue on to where you are commanded." 65 And We conveyed to him [the decree] of that matter: that those [sinners] would be eliminated by early morning. 66 Then came the people of the city, exulting at the news. 67 Exclaimed [Lot]: "Behold, these are my guests: so put me not to shame, 68 Fear God and do not shame me." 69 They answered: "Have we not forbidden thee [to offer protection] to any kind of people?" 70 Lot said, "These are my daughters if you want them." 71 By thy life (O Muhammad) they moved blindly in the frenzy of approaching death. 72 and thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at sunrise. 73 And We turned (the towns of Sodom in Palestine) upside down and rained down on them stones of baked clay. 74 There are certainly signs in that for those who can learn a lesson -- 75 Indeed, it is on a way which still exists. 76 Verily there is a Sign in this for the believers. 77 The dwellers of the Thicket were harmdoers. 78 So We took vengeance on them. And verily both are on a high-road open. 79
