And when the envoys came to the family of Lot, 61 He said: "Ye appear to be uncommon folk." 62 'No' they replied: 'We bring you (news) of that concerning which they were doubting. 63 and we are bringing thee the certainty [of its fulfilment]: for, behold, we are speaking the truth indeed. 64 "So leave with your family late in the night, yourself remaining in the rear, and let none turn back to look, and go where you will be commanded." 65 And We informed him the decision of this command, that at morning the root of the disbelievers would be cut off. 66 And there came the people of the city rejoicing 67 [Lout (Lot)] said: "Verily! these are my guests, so shame me not. 68 And guard against (the punishment of) Allah and do not put me to shame. 69 They (people of the city) said: "Did we not forbid you to entertain (or protect) any of the 'Alamin (people, foreigners, strangers, etc. from us)?" 70 [Lot] said, "These are my daughters - if you would be doers [of lawful marriage]." 71 By thy life, they wandered blindly in their dazzlement, 72 Then the mighty Blast caught them at sunrise, 73 and We turned it uppermost nethermost and rained on it stones of baked clay. 74 Indeed in this are signs for people who perceive. 75 And verily! They (the cities) were right on the highroad (from Makkah to Syria i.e. the place where the Dead Sea is now). 76 Most surely there is a sign in this for the believers. 77 And the people of Aykah were also wrong-doers. 78 On them, too, We took vengeance, and they are both on a clear roadway. 79
