The people of al-Hijr also rejected Our messengers: 80 And We gave them Our signs, and they remained averse to them. 81 They used to hew out houses from the mountains and lived in security. 82 Then the shout took hold of them in the early morn. 83 and whatever they had been earning proved of no avail. 84 We created not the heavens and the earth and all that is between them save with truth, and lo! the Hour is surely coming. So forgive, (O Muhammad), with a gracious forgiveness. 85 Lo! Thy Lord! He is the All-Wise Creator. 86 And We have certainly given you, [O Muhammad], seven of the often repeated [verses] and the great Qur'an. 87 Do not direct your eyes towards the things We have given to some of their couples to enjoy, and do not at all grieve because of them, and take the Muslims within the folds of your mercy. 88 And say: "I am a distinct warner," 89 Such as We send down for those who make division, 90 and also divided the Quran believing in some parts and rejecting others. 91 So, by your Lord, We would most certainly question them all, 92 For all their deeds. 93 (O Prophet), proclaim what you are commanded, and pay no heed to those who associate others with Allah in His Divinity. 94 We are surely sufficient to deal with those who scoff at you, 95 and those who set up other gods with Allah, indeed, they will soon know. 96 Indeed, We know your chest is straitened by that they say. 97 So exalt [Allah] with praise of your Lord and be of those who prostrate [to Him]. 98 And keep worshipping your Lord, till death* comes to you. (* The certainty.) 99
