And certainly Haroun had said to them before: O my people! you are only tried by it, and surely your Lord is the Beneficent Allah, therefore follow me and obey my order. 90 They said: We will by no means cease to keep to its worship until Musa returns to us. 91 But (Moses) said: "O Aaron, when you saw that they had gone astray, what hindered you 92 So that you did not follow me? Did you then disobey my order? 93 Answered [Aaron]: "O my mother's son! Seize me not by my beard, nor by my head! Behold, I was afraid lest [on thy return] thou say, 'Thou hast caused a split among the children of Israel, and hast paid no heed to my bidding!" 94 Moses asked, "Samiri, what were your motives?" 95 He replied: 'I saw what they did not see and seized a handful of dust from the foot print of the messenger and so I cast it; this my soul prompted me to do' 96 (Moses) said: "Go hence! All your life you are (cursed) to say: 'Do not touch me; and a threat hangs over you which you will not be able to escape. Look at your god to whom you are so attached: We shall verily burn it, and disperse its ashes into the sea. 97 Your God is only Allah, the One other than whom there is no god. He comprehendeth everything in knowledge. 98 Thus We tell you, (Muhammad), the stories of the past and We have given you the Quran. 99 Whosoever turns away from it, upon the Day of Resurrection He shall bear a fardel, 100 They will abide in this (state): and grievous will the burden be to them on that Day,- 101 On the day when the trumpet shall be blown, and We will gather the guilty, blue-eyed, on that day 102 They will murmur among themselves, "You remained not but ten [days in the world]." 103 We know very well what they will say, when the justest of them in the way will say, 'You have tarried only a day.' 104
