۞ And assuredly We vouchsafed unto Ibrahim his rectitude aforetime, and him We had ever known. 51 When he said to his father and his people: "What are these idols to which you cling so passionately?" 52 They said, 'We found our fathers serving them.' 53 He said: 'Truly, you and your fathers are in clear error' 54 They said: "Are you expressing your true ideas before us or are you jesting?" 55 He said: Nay! your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Who brought them into existence, and I am of those who bear witness to this: 56 And, by God, I shall assuredly outwit your idols, after you have gone away turning your backs.' 57 So he broke them to pieces, (all) but the biggest of them, that they might turn (and address themselves) to it. 58 They said, "Who has done this to our gods? Indeed, he is of the wrongdoers." 59 Some among them said, “We heard a youth speak ill of them – the one called Ibrahim.” 60 They said: "Then bring him before the eyes of the people, that they may testify." 61 They said: "Are you the one who has done this to our gods, O Ibrahim (Abraham)?" 62 He answered, "Rather this biggest one of them did it. Ask them, if they can speak." 63 So they turned to themselves and said, "Surely ye are the ones in the wrong!" 64 Then crestfallen (they confessed): "Truly, as you know, they cannot speak." 65 He said: worship ye, then, beside Allah, that which profiteth you not at all, nor it hurteth you? 66 Shame on you and on whatever you worship instead of God. Can you not understand?" 67 They said, "Burn him and support your gods - if you are to act." 68 We said: O fire! be thou cool and peace unto Ibrahim. 69 And they intended for him harm, but We made them the greatest losers. 70 So We delivered him and Lot, and brought them to the land We had blessed for all the people. 71 And We bestowed upon him ls-haq and Ya qub as a grandson; and each one We made righteous. 72 And We made them into leaders to guide people in accordance with Our command, and We inspired them to good works, and to establish Prayers and to give Zakah. They worshipped Us alone. 73 And (as for) Lut, We gave him wisdom and knowledge, and We delivered him from the town which wrought abominations; surely they were an evil people, transgressors; 74 And We admitted him into Our mercy; indeed he is among those who deserve Our proximity. 75
