The unbelieving assembly of his nation, who belied the encounter of the Everlasting Life, and on whom We had bestowed ease in this life, said: 'This is but a human like yourselves; he eats of what you eat and drinks of what you drink. 33 "If ye obey a man like yourselves, behold, it is certain ye will be lost. 34 What! does he threaten you that when you are dead and become dust and bones that you shall then be brought forth? 35 ۞ Begone, begone, with that which ye are promised! 36 "There is nothing but our life of this world! We die and we live! And we are not going to be resurrected! 37 "He is only a man who invents a lie against Allah, but we are not the ones to believe in him!" 38 He said: "O my Lord! Help me because they deny me." 39 He said: In a little while they surely will become repentant. 40 So the true Scream seized them – We therefore made them like rotten hay; so away with the unjust people! 41 Then We raised up other generations after them, 42 no nation outstrips its term, nor do they put it back. 43 Thereafter We sent Our apostles, successively. So oft as there came unto a community their apostle, they belied him, so We made them follow one another, and We made them bywords; so away with a people who believe not! 44 Then We sent Musa (Moses) and his brother Harun (Aaron), with Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) and manifest authority, 45 to Pharaoh and to his chiefs, but they behaved superciliously and they were haughty. 46 'What' they said, 'are we to believe in two mortals like us, whose nation are our worshipers' 47 Thus, they gave the lie to those two, and earned (thereby) their place among the doomed: 48 And We verily gave Moses the Scripture, that haply they might go aright. 49 We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign and gave them shelter on a peaceful hillside watered by a fresh spring. 50
