And the chiefs of his people, who disbelieved and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, and to whom We had given the luxuries and comforts of this life, said: "He is no more than a human being like you, he eats of that which you eat, and drinks of what you drink. 33 If you obey a mortal like yourselves, then you will be losers. 34 "Does he promise that when ye die and become dust and bones, ye shall be brought forth (again)? 35 ۞ What you are promised is indeed far-fetched. 36 There is nought but our life of the world; we die and we live, and we are not going to be raised up. 37 He is only a man who invents lies against God, so have no faith in him". 38 He said: my Lord! vindicate for they belie me. 39 (Allah) said: "In a little while, they are sure to be regretful." 40 So the punishment overtook them in justice, and We made them as rubbish; so away with the unjust people. 41 After them We produced other generations 42 No community can anticipate their term, nor can they lay behind. 43 Then sent We Our Messengers successively; whenever its Messenger came to a nation they cried him lies, so We caused some of them to follow others, and We made them as but tales; so away with a people who do not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and clear authority 45 unto Pharaoh and his great ones; but these behaved with arrogance, for they were people wont to glorify [only] themselves. 46 They said: "Shall we believe in two men like ourselves, and their people are obedient to us with humility (and we use them to serve us as we like)." 47 So they cried them lies, and they were among the destroyed. 48 We gave the Book to Moses so that perhaps they may have guidance. 49 And We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign, and gave them shelter on an elevated ground, sequestered, watered by a spring. 50
