Light (Al-Noor)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ A sura which We have sent down and which We have ordained in it have We sent down Clear Signs, in order that ye may receive admonition. 1 AS FOR the adulteress and the adulterer flog each of them with a hundred stripes, and let not compassion with them keep you from [carrying out] this law of God, if you [truly] believe in God and the Last Day; and let a group of the believers witness their chastisement. 2 The adulterer shall not marry save an adulteress or an idolatress, and the adulteress none shall marry save an adulterer or an idolater. All that is forbidden unto believers. 3 And those who accuse honourable women but bring not four witnesses, scourge them (with) eighty stripes and never (afterward) accept their testimony - They indeed are evil-doers - 4 excepting [from this interdict] only those who afterwards repent and made amends: for, behold, God is much forgiving, a dispenser of grace. 5 And those who accuse their wives [of adultery] and have no witnesses except themselves - then the witness of one of them [shall be] four testimonies [swearing] by Allah that indeed, he is of the truthful. 6 and the fifth time, that God's curse be upon him if he is telling a lie. 7 But it will prevent punishment from her if she gives four testimonies [swearing] by Allah that indeed, he is of the liars. 8 and the fifth time she invokes Allah's wrath upon herself, if he be true (in his charge). 9 But for God's bounty to you and His mercy and that God turns, and is All-wise -- 10
