And when thy Lord called to Moses, 'Go to the people of the evildoers, 10 The folk of Pharaoh. Will they not ward off (evil)? 11 'My Lord' he replied, 'I fear they will belie me 12 and my chest will become constricted and my tongue will not be loosed (in my speech), therefore, send to Aaron. 13 And they have a crime against me, so I fear that they shall slay me. 14 Allah said: "Nay! Go you both with Our Signs. Verily! We shall be with you, listening. 15 And go, both of you, unto Pharaoh and say, 'Behold, we bear a message from the Sustainer of all the worlds: 16 [Commanded to say], "Send with us the Children of Israel."'" 17 Pharaoh said: "Did we not bring you up among us when you were a child? 18 And thou didst that thy deed which thou didst, and thou wast one of the ingrates. 19 He said: I did it then, when I was of those who are astray. 20 Then I ran away from you in fear, but my Lord granted me the law and has appointed me as a Messenger. 21 And [as for] that favour of which thou so tauntingly remindest me - [was it not] due to thy having enslaved the children of Israel?" 22 Pharaoh said, 'And what is the Lord of all Being?' 23 [Moses] said, "The Lord of the heavens and earth and that between them, if you should be convinced." 24 'Do you not hear' said he (Pharaoh) to those around him. 25 (Moses continued): "Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers before you." 26 Said he: Most surely your Apostle who is sent to you is mad. 27 He said, 'The Lord of the East and West, and what between them is, if you have understanding,' 28 Pharaoh said: "If you take any god other than me, I will certainly make you one of those (who are rotting) in prison." 29 Musa (Moses) said: "Even if I bring you something manifest (and convincing)?" 30 Fir'awn said: forth with it then, if thou art of the truth-tellers. 31 (No sooner had he said this than) Moses threw down his rod and behold, it was a veritable serpent, 32 Then he uncovered his hand and it was sheer white to the onlookers. 33
