The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
I CALL TO witness the sky (bespangled) with the signs of the Zodiac, 1 And by the Promised Day (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 2 And the bearer of witness and those against whom the witness is borne. 3 Cursed were the companions of the trench 4 The people of the fuelled blazing fire. 5 When they were sitting at its edge. 6 and were themselves witnesses of what they did with the believers. 7 And they persecuted them for naught save that they believed in Allah, the Mighty, the Praiseworthy 8 [and] to whom the dominion of the heavens and the earth belongs. But God is witness unto everything! 9 Those who persecute the believing men and believing women, and then do not repent, will surely suffer the punishment of Hell, and the torment of burning. 10 As for those who believed and acted righteously, theirs shall be Gardens beneath which rivers flow. That is the great triumph. 11 Indeed the seizure of your Lord is very severe. 12 Indeed it is He Who initiates and redoes. 13 And He is the Forgiving, and the Loving. 14 the Owner of the Throne, the Glorious One, 15 He does what He intends (or wills). 16 Has the story of the armies reached you, 17 (The armies of) Firaun and the tribe of Thamud. 18 Nay! those who disbelieve are in (the act of) giving the lie to the truth. 19 and God is behind them, encompassing. 20 Nay, but it is a glorious Koran, 21 (Inscribed) in Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz (The Preserved Tablet)! 22
