The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And raised couches; 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 And made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For those on the right hand; 38
