The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
The Last Hour draws near and the moon is split asunder. 1 Yet if they see a sign (the unbelievers) turn their backs and say: 'This is but a continuation of sorcery' 2 And they belied, and they followed their lusts; and every affair cometh to a final goal. 3 And there has already come to them of information that in which there is deterrence - 4 Wisdom consummate. But warnings avail not. 5 So withdraw from them (O Muhammad) on the day when the Summoner summoneth unto a painful thing. 6 They will come out of the graves with downcast eyes like an expanding swarm of locusts. 7 Rushing towards the caller; the disbelievers will say, “This is a tough day.” 8 ۞ There belied before them the people of Nuh. So they belied Our bondman and said: a madman; and moreover he was reproven. 9 so he cried out to his Lord, saying, "I am overcome, so help me!" 10 And so We caused the gates of heaven to open with water pouring down in torrents, 11 and We made the earth burst forth with springs, and all this water converged to fulfil that which had been decreed. 12 but him We bore on that [vessel] made of [mere] planks and nails, 13 Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected! 14 And We left it as a sign. Is there anyone who will be warned? 15 Then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 16 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember! 17 Ad cried lies. How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 18 We indeed sent towards them a severe windstorm, on a day the ill luck of which lasted upon them forever. 19 Sweeping men away as though they were uprooted trunks of palm-trees. 20 How terrible was Our torment and the result of (their disregard) of Our warning. 21 And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 22
