We did not create heaven and earth and all that is between them in vain. That is the opinion of those who deny the truth. Woe betide those who deny the truth, when they are cast into the Fire -- 27 Shall We then treat alike those that believe and act righteously and those that create mischief on earth? Or treat alike the God-fearing and the wicked? 28 (This is) a Book (the Quran) which We have sent down to you, full of blessings that they may ponder over its Verses, and that men of understanding may remember. 29 And We gave unto David Solomon; how excellent a servant he was! He was a penitent. 30 When there were brought to him in the evening (horses) still when standing, swift when running-- 31 he said, "My love of horses for the cause of God has made me continue watching them until sunset, thus making me miss my prayer". 32 Bring them back to me; so he began to slash (their) legs and necks. 33 And verily We tried Solomon, and set upon his throne a (mere) body. Then did he repent. 34 He said: "My Lord! Forgive me, and bestow upon me a kingdom such as shall not belong to any other after me: Verily, You are the Bestower." 35 We subjected the wind to him, so that it blew gently at his bidding, wherever he directed it, 36 and We also subjected the devils to him -- all kinds of builders and divers; 37 And also others bound in fetters. 38 [And We told him:] "This is Our gift, for thee to bestow freely on others, or to withhold, without [having to render] account!" 39 Indeed an exalted position of nearness awaits him and an excellent resort. 40
