And recite to them the news of Abraham, 69 When he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?” 70 They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted." 71 He asked, "Do they hear you when you call to them? 72 or do they profit you, or harm?' 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 Ye and your fathers of old? 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 And He Who gives me to eat and gives me to drink: 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me, 80 Who will cause me to die and then will again restore me to life; 81 and He who will, I hope, forgive me my faults on the Day of the Judgement. 82 [And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous. 83 and grant me the power to convey the truth unto those who will come after me, 84 and make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 and forgive my father for he is among those who strayed, 86 and do not put me to shame on the Day when all shall be raised from the dead: 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart." 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 And the Fierce Fire shall be made apparent unto the seduced ones. 91 And it shall be said to them: Where are those that you used to worship; 92 Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves? 93 Then they will be thrown headlong into Hell, both they and the misguided ones, 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 And they, while contending therein, shall say: 96 "We were clearly misguided 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 “Nor a caring friend.” 101 If we could only return to the world and be among the believers." 102 Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe. 103 Verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 104
