And recite to them the news of Abraham, 69 when he said to his father and his people, 'What do you serve?' 70 They answered: We worship idols, and we remain ever devoted to them." 71 He said: "Do they hear you, when you call (on them)? 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They said: Nay, but we found our fathers acting on this wise. 74 (Abraham) said, "Do you know that what you worship 75 you and your forefathers of yore? 76 Lo! they are (all) an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the Worlds, 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink. 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life 81 and who I am eager shall forgive me my offence on the Day of Doom. 82 (And then Abraham prayed): "My Lord, endow me with knowledge and wisdom and join me with the righteous, 83 and grant me the power to convey the truth unto those who will come after me, 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 and forgive my father, for he was among the astray. 86 Do not degrade me on the Day when they are resurrected. 87 the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail, 88 and when he alone will be saved who comes to God with a sound heart." 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 And it shall be said to them: Where are those that you used to worship; 92 besides God? Will the idols help you? Can they help themselves?" 93 They will then be thrown into Hell with those who had gone astray 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 "They will say there in their mutual bickerings: 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 When we made you equal to the Lord of the worlds; 98 It is none but those steeped in guilt who led us into this error, 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 and no sincere friend. 101 If we could only return to the world and be among the believers." 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 104
