And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 He asked them, "Can the idols hear you when you pray to them 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 “They are all my enemies, except the Lord Of The Creation.” 77 Who created me, and He doth guide me, 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment. 82 My Lord, bestow wisdom upon me; unite me with the righteous; 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 "Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 And forgive my father, verily he is of the erring; 86 and do not disgrace me on the Day when all people are resurrected, 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and Nifaq (hypocrisy)]. 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 Then the idols and those who strayed will be hurled into the Fire headlong, one upon another, 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 'By Allah, we were certainly in clear error, 97 when we deemed you [false deities] equal to the Sustainer of all the worlds 98 It was but the guilty who misled us. 99 “So now we do not have any intercessors.” (The believers shall have intercessors, the disbelievers none). 100 nor any loving friend. 101 If only we could return we would be among the believers." 102 In all this, behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 103 And indeed your Lord only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
