Relate the news of Abraham to them. 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted." 71 He said: "Do they hear you, when you call (on them)? 72 or can they benefit or harm you?" 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 you, and your elderly fathers? 76 Lo! they are (all) an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the Worlds, 77 He created me and He will guide me. 78 “And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink.” 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 "And Who, I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection)," 82 My Lord, give me judgment, and join me with the righteous. 83 and grant me the power to convey the truth unto those who will come after me, 84 “And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity.” 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 The Day whereon will profit neither substance nor sons. 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 And the garden shall be brought near for those who guard (against evil), 90 And the Fierce Fire shall be made apparent unto the seduced ones. 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 instead of God? Can these [things and beings] be of any help to you or to themselves?" 93 "Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire),- they and those straying in Evil, 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 'By Allah, we were certainly in clear error, 97 "'When we held you as equals with the Lord of the Worlds; 98 It was nothing but the evildoers who led us astray. 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 no loyal friend. 101 Would that we might return again, and be among the believers' 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 104
