And recount to them the story of Abraham: 69 When he said unto his father and his folk: What worship ye? 70 They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. 71 He said: "Do they hear you, when you call (on them)? 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They said, “In fact we found our forefathers doing likewise.” 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 you and your fathers, the elders? 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me. 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 My Lord, give me judgment, and join me with the righteous. 83 And give unto me a good report in later generations. 84 and place me amongst the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss. 85 and forgive my father, for he was among the astray. 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 the Day when nothing will avail, neither wealth nor offspring, 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 Then they will be thrown on their faces into the (Fire), They and the Ghawun (devils, and those who were in error). 94 and the army of satan will all be thrown headlong into hell. 95 And they, while contending therein, shall say: 96 "By Allah, we were surely in clear error 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 It is none but those steeped in guilt who led us into this error, 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 Your Lord is certainly Majestic and All-merciful. 104
