And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them 72 Or do they profit you or cause you harm? 73 They said, “In fact we found our forefathers doing likewise.” 74 He said, “Do you see these – (the idols) whom you worship?” 75 You and your ancient forefathers? 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink. 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 Who will cause me to die and then will again restore me to life; 81 Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." 82 (And then Abraham prayed): "My Lord, endow me with knowledge and wisdom and join me with the righteous, 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 Make me inherit the bountiful Paradise. 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 and Hell advanced for the perverse. 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 Beside Allah? Can they succour you or succour themselves? 93 Then they will be thrown headlong into Hell, both they and the misguided ones, 94 And the hosts of Iblis all together. 95 And there and then, blaming one another, they [who had grievously sinned in life] will exclaim: 96 "'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest, 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 And none has brought us into error except the Mujrimun [Iblis (Satan) and those of human beings who commit crimes, murderers, polytheists, oppressors, etc.]. 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 no caring friend. 101 Were there for us a return, we would be of the believers. 102 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 103 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
