The Thamud (people) rejected the messengers. 141 When their brother Salih said to them, "Will you not fear Allah? 142 I am a trustworthy Messengers sent to you. 143 "So fear Allah, and obey me. 144 'I ask of you no wage for this; my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 145 Do you believe that you will be left here to live securely in the present state 146 "In gardens and springs. 147 "And corn-fields and date-palms with spathes near breaking (with the weight of fruit)? 148 “And you carve out dwellings in the mountains, with skill?” 149 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me; 150 Do not obey the orders of the transgressors 151 who do corruption in the earth, and set not things aright.' 152 They said, "You are only of those affected by magic. 153 "You are but a human being like us. Then bring us a sign if you are of the truthful." 154 He said, “This is the she-camel – one day shall be her turn to drink, and on the other appointed day, shall be your turn.” 155 and do not touch her with malice so that there seize you the chastisement of a dreadful day.' 156 Then they hamstrung her; and then they became regretful. 157 and the chastisement seized them. Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 158 And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 159
