Samood gave the lie to the apostles 141 When their brother Salih (Saleh) said to them: "Will you not fear Allah and obey Him? 142 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 143 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 144 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds. 145 Shall ye be left secure in that which is here before us. 146 amidst [these] gardens and springs 147 “And fields and palm-trees, with delicate tendrils?” 148 Will you still hew your dwellings in the mountains? 149 "But fear Allah and obey me; 150 And do not obey the order of the transgressors, 151 Who spread corruption in the earth, and reform not. 152 They said, "You are only of those affected by magic. 153 Thou art but a mortal like us. So bring some token if thou art of the truthful. 154 Replied he: "This she-camel shall have a share of water, and you shall have a share of water, on the days appointed [therefor]; 155 Do not touch her with malice so that punishment of a dreadful day seizes you' 156 Then they hamstrung her; and then they became regretful. 157 The punishment therefore seized them; indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 158 Yet verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 159
