And this (Qur'an) is a revelation from the Lord of all the worlds, 192 The Faithful Spirit has descended with it, 193 upon thy heart, that thou mayest be one of the warners, 194 In plain Arabic speech. 195 And most surely the same is in the scriptures of the ancients. 196 Was it not a sign for them known to the learned of the Children of Israel? 197 Had We revealed it to any one of the non-Arabs, 198 and he had recited it to them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus it passes through the hearts of the criminals. 200 They will not believe in it till they behold the painful doom, 201 that will come upon them [on resurrection,] all of a sudden, without their being aware [of its approach]; 202 They will therefore say, “Will we get some respite?” 203 Do they want to hasten Our punishment? 204 Just think: If We let them enjoy (the good things of life) for a few years more, 205 And then the promise that is given to them, does come upon them- 206 So of what benefit will be the comforts that they were using? 207 And never did We destroy a township which did not have Heralds of warning, – 208 To warn. For We are never unjust. 209 And the satans have not brought it down. 210 They are unworthy of it, nor can they do it. 211 Truly, they are expelled from hearing. 212 So do not call any other god beside Allah lest you become of those who will be punished, 213 Warn your close relatives 214 and extend kindness and affection to those of the believers who follow you. 215 So if they do not obey you, then say, “Indeed I am unconcerned with what you do.” 216 And put your trust in the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful, 217 who sees thee when thou standest 218 or move during your prostration with the worshippers. 219 Surely He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing. 220 Should I tell you to whom the satans come? 221 They come down on every guilty impostor. 222 The devils convey upon them what they heard, but most of them are liars. 223 As for the poets, the erring follow them, 224 Have you not seen that they wander distract in every valley, 225 and how they say that which they do not? 226 Except those who believed and did good deeds, and profusely remembered Allah, and took revenge after they had been wronged*; and soon the unjust will come to know upon which side they will be overturned**. (* The Muslim poets who praise Allah and the Prophet. ** The disbelievers will be punished.) 227
