And indeed, the Qur'an is the revelation of the Lord of the worlds. 192 brought down by the Faithful Spirit 193 to your heart that you might become one of those who warn (others on behalf of Allah), 194 In the plain Arabic language. 195 (a revelation embodied) in the scriptures of the ancients. 196 Was it not a sign for them, that it is known to the learned of the Children of Israel? 197 Had We revealed it to a non-Arab 198 So that he should have recited it to them, they would not have believed therein. 199 This is how We have made (the habit of) denying embedded in the hearts of the guilty. 200 They will not believe in it until they see the grievous Penalty; 201 And it shall come to them all of a sudden, while they shall not perceive; 202 Then they will say: are we to be respited? 203 Would they then wish for Our Torment to be hastened on? 204 Just think: If We let them enjoy (the good things of life) for a few years more, 205 and thereupon that [chastisement] which they were promised befalls them 206 They would not be availed by the enjoyment with which they were provided. 207 Never have We destroyed a town without sending down messengers to warn it, 208 By way of admonition, and We have never been oppressors. 209 The devils did not bring it down. 210 It is not meet for them, nor is it in their power, 211 Indeed they have been banished from the place of hearing. 212 So call thou not upon another god with God, lest thou shouldst be one of those that are chastised. 213 and warn your nearest kinsmen; 214 and spread the wings of thy tenderness over all of the believers who may follow thee; 215 And if they (thy kinsfolk) disobey thee, say: Lo! I am innocent of what they do. 216 And rely upon (Allah) the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 217 Who seeth thee standing forth (in prayer), 218 And thy movements among those who fall prostrate. 219 He is All-hearing and All-knowing." 220 Shall I inform you upon whom do the devils descend? 221 They descend on every guilty impostor. 222 (Into whose ears) they pour hearsay vanities, and most of them are liars. 223 And as to the poets, those who go astray follow them. 224 See you not that they speak about every subject (praising others right or wrong) in their poetry? 225 And that they say that which they do not? 226 Except those who believed and did good deeds, and profusely remembered Allah, and took revenge after they had been wronged*; and soon the unjust will come to know upon which side they will be overturned**. (* The Muslim poets who praise Allah and the Prophet. ** The disbelievers will be punished.) 227
